I found your board with google, I'm from Austria (please excuse "lower" english .. ) and a huge fan of the intro scene and I'm new to OpenGL. For this I use C, which I know for about 15 years - mainly on Unix Systems, less Windows for which I coded a FTP Client long time ago..

Hi there - Nice forum!

I started out as a BASIC program on the VIC-20 (+ 16kb expansion[!]) in '82/'83, then got converted to 8502 asm and booted up on the c128 via its built-in ML monitor. I soon after became a mc68000 program on the Amiga 1000. It was on the A1000 I had my first illness - a bootblock virus (write protect those floppies, please). I felt invincible on the A1200 w/mc68030 + 8 mb and life was good. Alas, one day it was all over. As it hurts me too much to tell you all the long and sad story, I will only say one thing here. i80x86.

Today I feel a little bit better, even though this dual core gives me a split personality.

I too felt that Windows made coding less accessable than the classic Spectrums, Amigas and Commodores, but thankfully there are now more ways of coding than ever.

Emulators of the old systems are a great way of re-living the golden age of coding.

I wish I had a dual core.

thanks for your introduction. I did share your feelings back then when the Amiga got overrun by the PeeCees. I sticked quite a long time to my beloved Amiga and refused any PC - even if I was jealous to see more and more interesting games being released for PC.

At the end of the Amiga era I even thought about stopping my computer activities at all - but after some months I could not resist and bought also a PC ...

Well, today my platform isn't about hardware anymore ... I target primarily the browser platform to code for.
