dithering...and you!
« on: February 15, 2008 »

I want to learn everything I can about dithering in the image processing sense. Are there any demos that do dithering with just a few colors in realtime?

There are some.
I remember one on the Amiga by Digital that did vectors with dithering.

As far as I could tell, it was just a gourad routine with a limited colour palette though. It wouldn't be too hard to re-create it.

Gateways / Trauma had an option to quantize & dither from hicolor to mode13.
never found that very attractive though...

That does seem like a strange option to add to a demo like that too.

Yes, it does seem odd. Most of the dithering I've seen in 3D was done for "screendoor" transparency.
