Just as good as it was last time, but still massive distortion at the edges and corners due to cranky perspective calc :P

Thanks for the comments :)

Jim I fixed the perspective calc but I didnt like it as much so in the end I compromised and it is still a bit bent at the edges now but I did try it with a more conventional

Code: [Select]
    GLUPERSPECTIVE 85.0, W_XW / W_YH, .01, 500.0

and scaled down the objects accordingly but to me it ended up looking too much like a nehe tutorial, I bow to nearly everyone's programming experience here, I am 4/10 on the scale but sometimes you need to keep the quirks or you lose the character and as I don't have the ability of some people here I would rather keep my quirks! It gives me an edge I would not otherwise have.

I did try it your way too though, I appreciate your advice and I wouldn't want you to stop giving it :)

Very nice work, especially as a firsty with opengl. I've messed around a bit with perspective and it can be overpowering and not look too good but I don't think that at all about this and it all fits together pretty well. If you are after some criticism though, mine would only be the dark pixels showing up a bit around the logo.

Yeah I agree with that, I feel a bit bad about that logo actually. It looked a lot better before I got my hands on it. Most of the criticism the intro has attracted has been aimed at the logo and it was really my fault, not the artist.

One general advise concerning sitetros :

How about another button (on Windowed/Screen popup screen)
or another dialog box after escaping the intro - that asks the
user if he wanted to visit the website the intro is advertising ?

Using some simple WinAPI commands opens standard browser
with given URL AFAIK (cannot remember exact WinAPI function -
was it ShellExecute or something like this ???).

EDIT:

Just looked it up - here is the code if someone is interested :

Code: [Select]
LONG r = ShellExecute(NULL, "open", "http://www.microsoft.com", NULL, NULL, SW_SHOWNORMAL);
Should work with FreeBasic, too - since you have access to the
WinApi, haven't you ?
