[C++] Any alternative to FMOD ?
« on: November 12, 2008 »
Well, to play mod files, I currently use FMOD.  Works fine, but I need the FMOD.DLL.

Furthermore, there is some limitations such as having in real time which channels are playing, which notes, etc. (usefull for copper lines pushing with the music chans).

Any alternative to that where I can have all in one single exe ? :inspired:

PS: beeing level ZX81 bring me some memories back :-)

First of all welcome to the forum!
You might want to have a look at MiniFMOD (which plays XMs only, so check this, too).
Since it comes with full source, it's quite easy to access the pattern-data.

Hardrider: Welcome!

Another good alternative is uFmod, I use it all the time

I use an old version of ufmod with modtoxm (or is it xmtomod?).

@Hardrider: hehe glad you are here! People are really helpful here. BTW, ufmod is also the one I use... pretty light and does the job very well.

@Jim: It think what you mean is mod2xm (at least that's what I have). mod2xm is not perfect though... does a very good job to strip modules from their uselss metadata but sometimes is does not get the thinks right. I recently switched to MilkyTracker that works very well. Files a a few bytes larger though...
