See you in a few days!
« on: December 21, 2008 »
Most of you know that I broke my ankle in September when I fell over at work, what I didn't post here was how much damage I had done to it, all in all I made a right mess of it, anyway, fixing it up required me to have an operation, the operation was a really surreal experience because I chose to be awake while they did it, anyway it looks like I now have the chance for one time only of re-living my operative expereince.

Basically my ankle had to be screwed back together with a steel pin and also I had a steel plate screwed into my Fibula (The small bone in the lower leg), my Fibula was fuxxored.

The pin through my ankle needs to come out
One of the screws through my Fibula has to be removed too.

This happens tomorrow 22nd December. Once this is done then I will be properly on my road to recovery. The operation should be straight forward but it's only fair to say that I may be away for a few days while I recover :)

More than likely I will be back 23rd or 24th December, depending on how crappy it feels.

Cheers guys.

If anyone here has a similar mishap, I reccommend the Spinal Anasthetic, it's euphoric!

7:30am arrived at Prince Phillip hospital.
11:38am arrived home.

 :-\ Bah!

They wouldn't operate on me because I have flu-like symptoms and conjunctivitis in one eye. I have to wait even longer...  .  .   .   .      :crutches: Grr!

I was looking forward to my anesthetic, I know it sounds sick but I honestly was.

The spinal is no more painful than having blood taken, you just feel a scratch on your back and it's a little uncomfortable, then when it takes effect you just don't care.

The theatre staff asked me what music I wanted to listen to during the operation when I was in last time, and they played some Pink Floyd for me, it was totally excellent, I could hear them drilling and sawing my leg and I couldn't have cared less.

For hours later I felt quite euphoric.

Think Nick's major concern at the moment is making sure the operation doesn't clash with another appointment he has got during the first week of January  ;)
This isn't goodbye.....
