It's been rather quiet lately so there will soon be a new challenge :)

I will be launching it next week, it will be cool to see what entries we get, I'll send a mass mail out too to get some more people taking part hopefully :)

This is quite well timed for me - my coding abilities won't be called upon for another 3 months, so this should keep me in shape.

I've been working on rewriting a game I made some time ago, I've popped in and out every 3 or 4 hours as usual.  ::)

If only I was a better coder I would be able to answer people's questions more.  :-[

Ive noticed this alot lately too.

Not to step on anybodies toes. On this mass mail, perhaps people have forgotten their membership details, might be an idea to mention about it.

I have alot of ideas for posts / quite a few codey questions of my own. And no I dont make these up, they are genuine questions ( some unknown sent me an email once from an un replyable address ) which i've been holding back, as some people might be thinking "not him again".

Nice to see some freshness especially the new memberships; please dont be shy.

And looking forward to seeing the new challenge.

I enjoy making demos because it allows me to shift gears from making games.

And now a poem to the forum:

I once rested upon my computer,
I sought and sought but found no tutor

I weary traveler of the binary was I,
When a certain forum did catch my eye

Twas the Great Shockwave and his merry kin,
That so kindly answered my questions then

I felt full of joy and decided to stay,
That even I would make a demo someday

With finger up nose and booger on key
I made a demo with a fine vector-ball tree.

Coding and hoping to win with superstition,
I think more people need try the competition.

Win or loose but please-do try
Or else Shockwave in his angst may just die.

This is a poem I wrote with word,
It is a peasant gem, a corn ridden turd.

Not quite the right place for this - is there a generic topic for 3D graphics? I'd like to put together a simple model as a starting point for something more refined.

Usually they're in the forum corresponding to the language you want to write the code in.  We don't really have a 'how to build a model' - you can draw one using almost any 3d package, or work it out on graph paper - the hard bit is all the myriad of different ways you can import that in to your code and go about displaying it.

Excellent. I'll start a topic in the relevant area.

If anyone is wondering where I disappeared off to; my laptop power supply stopped working.  :rip:

I then went out to buy a new one, fell over in the snow & injured my arm.  :crutches:

But my computers working again & I'm back now.

Don't worry, I didn't break it but it still hurts. It was my own stupid fault for going out a day after it had been snowing heavily, I decided to walk to the shop to get the new power supply for my laptop, when I really should have used the bus.

Sounds like a good idea.

I'll put together a mass mail tomorrow evening when I launch the new challenge because I think I will be finishing work a little bit earlier.

I did a shitload of SEO on this site last December and January so it definately gets more traffic, some PR work to get more new people would be great, any new ideas are really welcome.

I'll be hosting a Flash developers' group at work soon, and I'll point the members this way if they wish to continue learing to program in other languages once the group disbands.
