Tomcat knows what he's talking about. He wrote this book, too.

I enjoy the accent.
You should check some of metapat's interviews on demoscene.tv then ;D

Quite good book! I'm still waiting for the "Vol.2" to see the light! :P

Tomcat focused on the early scene and did a great job (my 1st edition has some typos... I hope that the new reprint have them fixed) but the book could have been 10 times as big as it is actually!!!   ::) ... Artwork book just show some of the most representative artworks/screenshots (even if I do think that Scene feeling is something quite "personal"... )

Video "simply" show the book contents with a few digressions here an there...

I like it!!! it just make me feel the urge to grab the book once more and read it one more time... (Nostalgia rules sometimes! ;D )

Quoting the book author: "... when we wrote our first contact letter to another guy in some other town; and finally we found ourselves in a dazzling network of contacts, great projects running around us, brilliant pieces of digital art filling our screens. This was the magic of the demoscene."

HOW TRUE!!!

Really interesting to hear how the cracking scene seperated from the demo scene.
Thanks for posting the video :)

Neat seminar, although I thought the +4, CBM 16, were before the C64.

I've watched half of it saving the rest for tomorrow, and it is interesting to find out how the scene's were formed, who'd of guessed it all started life in the US Of A.

Get thee to the hanger 18 forum to see how Pangaea (Or the continental US) formed all the languages and continents.

Here is some other vintage information. I really like the big computers. Very cool to see some of the original machines taken care of and treated with respect.
