If you want to build your own PC, there's a good online store called Scan.co.uk

They have reasonable delivery charges too.

A fried of mine bought one on overclockers.co.uk
Recent PC:

Core i7 950
6Gb DDR3 1600Mhz
GTX 470
1 SSD 64Gb
1 HDD 512Gb

For 1200 (with screen 22'). So maybe you can get something really good there ;)

I've been looking at the AMD Phenom II X6, the 6 core CPUs.  Far cheaper than Intel and good bang for buck.  You can also avoid the absolute top of the range gfx and buy last year's model for a quarter of the price without compromising too much.
If you already have a screen, all the peripherals and a case and PSU, you shouldn't need to spend anywhere near 900quid to get a screaming system.

Building computer for yourself is Cheaper than buying a computer from the shop!

AMD Phenom II X6 is very good as better than Quadcore Intel where I7 Cpu is the best but they are expensive...

Good Luck on whatever decision you make :)

My friend bought a high-end PC from Overclockers a few years ago - he was very pleased with the product.

I further the recommendation of Overclockers. They're a very profesional bunch with some well tested kit. ;)

JL235 has a good point about Ebuyers too.. I know you already have your monitor sorted but Ebuyer is a really good place to buy bits and pieces - my mum got an awesome sony LED monitor on there dirt cheap.
