Hey there!
My name is Joe and I recently found back to the world of coding.
My first programming attempts were with BASIC in mid 90s. After that I learned some c++ but mostly 'focused' on web design and flash.
But it sounds more than I actually did. I was still young back then so I wasn't really coding. Just learning basic stuff and playing around..
In early 2000 I sadly stopped. Partying with friends was just more fun ^^
After high school I didn't know what to do first. I liked math so why not studying CS, I thought.
I just finished my first term and it makes more fun than I thought but most importantly I found my passion for computer again.
Back in early 90s I saw a demo for the first time. And I was stunned.
I was used to play side-scroll games and maybe watch some pretty pre-rendered cutscenes. But that was something different.
That's how I actually got even more interested in math but never really combined my passion for math and pretty animations unfortunately ^^
We also had no internet, so getting information about that was even harder.
That's my story ^^
Right now I try to learn more about algorithms and math and how to combine them with graphics programming.
At the university we learned Java, so I want to use LWJGL first to make some experience using OpenGL.
After learning how everything works together (especially how I can let things work together) I can write stuff in c++ if I want to.. (maybe too optimistic

)
I bought some books by Michael Abrash to learn more about code optimization.
I haven't read them yet but I know he is/was a programming guru and worked with Carmack on the doom and quake engine.
So learning some asm and C while reading it won't hurt

Also, I was kinda surprised to find this board.
In the last few months I often searched for information about demo programmers / graphics programming but never came here.
pouet.net was the first site I found but anything else looked like the demo scene died ~2000.
Fortunately, that was not the case and I found more and more on various sites and video demos on youtube.
mm.. wrote more than I thought..
Well, here I am and I hope we can learn a lot of our failures and ideas
