I think all anti virus software is pure evil, I truly hate them all! Started out with Norton which only detected them and I had to buy another Norton product to actually remove them. At one point or another I used Kaspersky, AVG, Panda, Trend Micro and a whole bunch I forgot.

I think anti-virus companies spend more time creating virusus only their software detects, then they do trying to solve anything. All of them have false posiives and none of them result in a faster more stable system in the long run. I haven't been using any for at least the last 3 years and my system runs the same or beter then before and I don't get pestered with warnings and alerts I wouldn't know how to respond to. I think the cure is just as bad as the disease in this case.

My system seems healthy and ignorance is bliss!  :)

I absolutely second Kirl.
I have never been using any anti-virus software.
The only virus I've had in the last twelve years was that w32-blaster thing.
Instead I do regular backups and avoid questionable warez sites.

In order, I've given up on AVG, Avira, and Avast. They've all added so much crap to what used to be a simple AV engine that they are worse than having most malware. So I too have given up on AV. I can't recommend any of them any more.

I used to use AVG, but it gave waaaaaay too many false positives. So now I use Microsoft Security Essentials instead. Fast, very accurate and best of all it doesn't bother you.

Well I know what you are all saying but I see infected laptops and comps every day, most of witch are running Mcafee or Norton I don't rate ether of them, but I do use an anti virus program to get rid of the infections and it works well
So my guess is if you have infections when running anti virus software then the software is no good in the first place
O' and no I do not get them cumming back after I install one that works.

Maybe I should start installing Norton!  :inspired:

The enterprise versions of Norton and McAfee are excellent though, it's just the home versions that suck.
