Spam!
« on: May 23, 2006 »
Hi Updated my site with a few demos. some old some new.

http://rel.betterwebber.com/

Enjoy!!!
 O0

List of effects:
Note: Click the images to download

1. Twister (Opengl or TinyPtc)

Â I have always loved to do this effect but always put it off at the last moment in favor of some other effect.  This is radially displaced and twisted cylinder with specular lighting which makes it my favorite effect in this update. There are 2 versions of this. One is made with OpenGL and the other pure sofware with TinyPtc.

2. Hematoma (Opengl)
Â This is a sphere distorted by applying sine functions n just about every vertex it has.  Lighting is also applied for a better effect.

3. Glass tunnel (Opengl)
Â You won't believe me if I tell you that this effect is in 2d. :*). Yep, 2d.  It achieves the effect with some clever manipulation of vertex and texture coordinates.

4. Radial Flower Tunnel (TinyPtc)
Â This is an all-sofware render I made playing around with my old tunnel.  New texture with new effect. :*)

5. Warpy 3d Torus ++ (TinyPtc)
Â Another sofware only render of a lighted torus with a "peristalsis" effect.  Pseudo-texture is acheived using normalized texture coordinates and using gouraud shading in lieu of texture shading.

6. Line cube Plus (TinyPtc)
Â An update of my old linecube demo using better colors and better movement.

7. Radial Lensmapping(TinyPtc)
Â This is a demo of a "flower-type" lensmapping.  The idea came to me while coding the above flower tunnel and I thought I could apply the same principle to the lens. :*)

So just sit back and enjoy the beauty? of these demos. :*)

Crikey  O0 All the above are smashing! I like the specular highlighted twister too, but by far the glass tunnel is the best of the lot as far as I'm concerned, it looks really organic!
All smooth as silk too.
Thanks a bunch for posting them!

I'd hardly call those screenies spam.

Put those together with some tuneage and you've got a hit mutli demo dude.

And I love peristalsis effects. "Whipping Effect" and yes it is the correct terminology. I got slated before for calling it that, when I was on the quest for finding out what the type of effect was :D

I'd agree with Clyde there, this is the most un-Spam like topic I've seen for a long time.

ABSOLUTELY ROCKS!!!

The software 3d engine is preety fast! Impressive.
My favorite is this version of radial displacement mapping. It's like nifty morphing crystals that refract the background =)
Nice ideas for glass refraction, love tha hematoma, radial tunnel was kool, everything is great actually!

Thanks! The glasseffect is just acheived using texture coord manipulation. :*)  And it's actually in 2d. The glass tunnel is just a deformed grid. :*)

It could all be put together into a perfectly acceptable and really neat scene demo with a few nice transitions this would really rock.
