WIREFRAME CHALLENGE 2011

WIREFRAME CHALLENGE 2011

 -Welcome To The Wireframe Challenge-

This time the challenge is to create something entirely defined by wireframe graphics.

This means that the theme is completely open to your imagination, however, everything that is rendered in your production has to be defined by wireframe!

It is perfectly fine  to add render and lighting effects such as like glow, blurr and sparks to your demo, in fact it would be really cool to see something tron like and neon!  It's cool to cull hidden lines or show them if you want.  You can even use polygons, as long as the image is entirely defined using wireframes. Perhaps you'll take a more physics like approach and build some structures that can fall apart, it really is wide open and it will be totally cool to see how you interpret this idea.

Here are a few ideas to get your creative juices flowing!

If you want to do something with loads of glow, here's a nice Neon Show:

Maybe you'll want to go all Pink Floyd and make a Lazer Show:

Or perhaps you'll take a more traditional approach and make something that looks like Vib Ribbon:

Or maybe you'll make a 3D demo and Define it with beautiful glowing lines like ASD Rupture:

It's really your choice how you interpret this one, as long as what you do is defined by wireframes then it's cool!

:) Here are the rules!  :)

    • Your Demo must be made out of wireframe graphics, or be defined by wireframe graphics (your imagary is clearly defined by wireframe graphics around the edges).
    • You can use any platform that is compatible with Windows 7, windows XP & Vista.
    • You may write something for web browsers as long as it works in IE8 or Chrome or FF4 (or all!) - If you use flash, please provide a link where people can see your demo. If you are placed in the top 3 your .swf will be added to the site as a .zip file
    • Wild (Video / Animated) entries are allowed.
    • Procedural graphics entries are allowed as long as it is one single file <16kb no animations allowed, file must not permanently write on hard drive.
    • The following emulators are welcome: Vice, Winuae, Saint, PS2 Yabasic
    • Please give credit if you use ripped sound/gfx, or even better credit the original artist.
    • Please write something new for the challenge, no previously released stuff.
    • Do not use ripped routines. (dlls, libs, fmod, sdl, frameworks etc are fine but say what you used please!).
    • Entries to be posted in this forum please with the title [WIREFRAME] entry name
    • Entries may be posted between NOW and Midnight of [Sunday 29th May 2011] - UK GMT
    • The winner [S?] will be decided by a poll of forum users
    • If 1st place is tied there will be a vote-off to decide the winner.
    • Late entries absolutely will not be counted for voting, even if one second over the deadline.
    • Please PM any correspondence regarding rules to me, don't discuss them here such posts will be removed and not answered.
    • Please include a screenshot of your entry in your post.
    • Please only post finished work, if you update your entry the final one will be voted on.
    • After the submission deadline You may NOT post ANY further attachments to final or other versions of your entry ANYWHERE on this forum until voting has closed.
    • You may post a video of the entry along with the binaries (useful if you use shaders or linux etc).  In fact it is advisable that you do this if possible, especially if you use tecnology that not everyone possesses.
    • Prize money is by Paypal only. No other forms will be discussed.
    • Maximum of two entries per person.

    Here are the prizes!

    • All entries get 2 Karma

Flash doesn't do complex wireframes at a high framerate, so I'll see how far I can push it.

My entry is almost ready. I'm not sure how I can improve on it before the dealine to make a better second entry, but I'll see if some more inspiration hits me.

I just need to work on a few finishing touches, but the main effects are in place.

If you know where you went wrong, the second attempt should be even better.

My first attempt is up. It's a ball. I could have gone with a cube, but I didn't want to make something too simple.

Hopefully everyone else will have more interesting shapes.
