[Amiga OS] DBF BBStro
« on: May 03, 2011 »
Hi guys!

As promised (or rather threatened) the other day, here it is my first Amiga BBStro whatever thing promoting DBF done in Purebasic 2.90.  ;)

Known issues:
Runs only on an Amiga or WinUAE.
Mousecursor is not completely hidden, i.e. it flashes when the mouse is moved.  That's a PB internal prob, no idea how to solve that.

It should run with a couple of configs on WinUAE. (I used ROM 3.1 and 2MB ChipRAM and 8MB FastRAM during creation.  ;D)
Just copy it to your harddisk and run it from the Workbench. Might add an ADF file for easier usage later...

Anyway, enjoy! :)

Pad

Damn I can't run it.
Does it definitely need Kickstart 3.1 ?

Uhh ... the screeny looks outstanding. I really like the wording (SysOp vs Admin, BBS no vs IP Address). Being a SysOp
myself decades ago this brings back a lot of good memory.

Any chance of providing a short vid?

Best,
benny!

I'll see what I can do, my computer isn't very good at recording videos, especially with audio. If I had I known that this only works on 3.0+, I wouldn't have started I think.  >:( But hey, I even managed to create code on Amiga that doesn't run on every machine... I'm good at this it seems... Wohoo!  :||

Works fine on winuae need to test on real amiga :)

Isn't this song by Martin Galway?
Or it is just a remix by 4-mat?

Nice work, I just miss a rotating cube on center of screen :)

@Hellfire:
Wow ... thanks a lot for the vid !!!

@Padman:
Yeah, nice little intro. It has been quite a long time since I saw my name in a greeting list of an Amiga Prod ;-)

Yup, it's a Comic Bakery remix.

You are right, a little more action wouldn't have hurt. But this is my first try on Amiga plus Purebasic doesn't offer Sin and Cos commands. I know you can do that with included table files, well maybe next time if I figure out how to do that. ;) I tried to do a text writer, but it wouldn't work as supposed so I left it all static. The whole thing uses some cheap tricks anyway. PB has an IncludeBinary command but you can only easily load stuff from disk. So I copy all included files to Ram: and load them from there. Real Amiga coders are entitled to laugh at this point.  ;) But I go with the Anthrox slogan. I do it for fun, not status! hehe

Wow the Amiga version of PB has no sin and cos, that seems abit of an odd think to not have, Amos had those back when i had it, says so in the manual :P

Thx janer!  :)

@TinDragon: Yeah the Amiga PB is obviously pretty crap and basically useless for demo or advanced game stuff (it only knows basic maths commands, no Random no nothing...) It's still fun to tinker with, since the syntax isn't too different from the Windows version...  ;)

You could  just import a sine table like we used to back in the good old days :)
